THURS Apr 27th: Reporters Writing Meeting... then film INTRO (2 facts) V/O (1 Fact) & OUTRO. 
Editors: Look at Sequence Diagram on  (Posted at iMac stations) 
FRI Apr 28th: SEGMENT DEADLINE: Editors
1. Place your news elements on the sequence in a manner that flows. V/O (Reporter fact unlinked from video) goes under B roll in the middle or toward the end of segment. Split up long answers and scatter them out. DELETE DULL or poorly captured interviews. No one needs to see those.   
2. ATTRIBUTE clips borrowed from WCTV at bottom of screen on those clips in a tiny lower 3rd  'Clip courtesy of WCTV' (except Tennis) 
3. Add volume changes inside your music track with pen tool (- it takes tow to make a thing go right)
4. EQUALIZE Sound: Set volume level at halfway. Bring down anything in the red / Audio Gain anything too low to hear. 
5. Select ALL - slide to add a sec of black before
6. FADE DOWN everything at the end - picture & sound. 

MON May 1: Review for News Quiz - See Chapter Packets, sit w/ partner. 
REVIEW Segment. If it's all good, Export Sequence to .mp4.

News Package Step-by-Step

1. Complete the News Story Worksheet

2. Assign Jobs: 
Reporter, Interview Camera Op (must use handheld mic & earbuds) Activity Camera Op (person who can film after school), Producer, Editor  

3. Schedule Interviews with Teacher. Schedule Activity filming.  

4. Interview your subjects during lab time. COPY SHOTS to iMac THE SAME DAY. 

5. Reporter LOGs the Interview - watch it and mark each one with the name of the person WITHOUT deleting the shot number.  

6. Reporter decides which answers will be included in timeline and which answers will NOT appear but will be written as the Reporters LEAD and V/O - also known as the 'Reporter Track'.

7. Editor pulls Interviews to timeline & Creates Lower 3rd titles: Name , Grade, Position

8. The best B Roll shots are Logged by Producer & Editor. Editor uses 'Mark In' to add them in above the Video 1 track. Then lower the B roll audio to desired levels. 

9. Reporter watches the sequence, writes his her script for the Lead (Intro), is / her V/O, and his/her Close (Outro). Then - Reporter parts are filmed ALL IN ONE LAB SESSION. 

10. Reporter V/O is added by marking it and dragging it an empty space on timeline, UNLINK, Delete Video, place audio track under B roll shots in the middle of the story.  

11. Add Lead and Outro. 

12. Producer checks the segment against the News Rubric. Export to .mp4

News Assignment


You AND a Partner: this is 2 people not 3 
Use the Textbook to complete Ch. 9, 10 and 11.
DUE THURS Apr 20th END OF CLASS

You and your partner must now work with new people in your group. Yes - it's supposed to be a challenge. 

Complete a News Worksheet as a group. 
Then - find a story using the Wheeler Web page. Schedule your B roll event filming and decide who your interviews will be with ASAP. Feature News Seg DUE Friday April 28th 

Then complete a pass, connect your mic, test it and start filming!
