Welcome to Audio Video Technology & Film

At Wheeler this is where students learn video production and broadcasting. Students work in teams to plan, write, film, direct, and edit videos.  Our mission is to teach behind-the camera skills... you do not have to be on camera, though we are always looking for interviewers, reporters & skit performers.

In AVTF class, students collaborate to produce a variety of video projects, each involving scriptwriting, filming, editing, and sharing their work in class.  Student choose their own jobs; they are assigned to write their ideas, use technical skills, and build relationships filming on location and working in a lab environment.

Level 2 & 3 students produce segments for "Wildcat TV", the weekly student-produced show for Wheeler and shared on YouTube: wildcattvwheeler

Our student volunteers produce Wildcat Morning News which streams live to classrooms each morning through IPTV.

Students develop a portfolio by creating video work for our Wheeler clients: Admin, Athletics, Student Government, Counseling, Clubs, School Store, Fine Arts,  AVID, PTSA, Open House, Wheeler Magnet and virtual campus tours for ECMS, like this one: Wheeler Electives Tour

Last Project: Produce an episode of "Wildcat TV"

Wildcat TV is not a live show like the morning news - it's produced ahead of time and then uploaded. Multiple segment types make up the show's format:

Opening Skit Segment
Host Clip introducing Sports
Sports Segment
Hosts introduce News
News Segment
Hosts say goodbye
Hall Survey Segment
Closing Credits, Music, Logo

Each team is responsible for one segment around 2:00 minutes. The Host parts are single clips that are viewed and edited to the 3 clips needed to tie the segments together.

Use your training up to this point to create work that is  planned out, written and filmed using proper camera, audio, and lighting and edited with music and titles.

Add special production touches where you can - BOTH Intro AVTF class shows are uploaded and shared via email to every teacher to show to their classes - you want your show to stand out for it's entertainment value.

Each Segment is due Friday Dec 13th by the end of class

Shows are due Monday Dec 16th by the end of class
