B2 & B3: Writing your 1st Project: an Ad

While Kuhn is equipment testing in the classroom, BUILD YOUR TEAM. You will be with them for the next 2 weeks.  Pick up some textbooks and sit at a Mac work Station together.

Assignment Part 1: READ CH. 8 in your textbook: Scriptwriting.

Learn the different Script formats - or types of programs for which scripts are written.
Click on the blog link to the right under Study Guides called "Writing for Television". Read the ppt.

You've seen commercials on YouTube. Think of an idea for a short video that sells a product. Keep in mind your audience - people your age. Dream up a product that could help them... getting to class on time, not falling asleep, etc. One challenge: as sarcastic as you'd like to be to keep it TV-G for our audience of kids.

Assignment Part 2: Open a Word Doc.
Page 1: Write a Treatment for your Ad. That's the summary of the video idea from beginning to end.

Page 2: Write a Script for your Ad. Insert a Two column table - one side for Camera Shots and the other for dialogue.

Everyone start contributing ideas while one person types in the plan. Don't worry, the plan can and will change as all creative projects do. Stay on task and work steadily for 3 lab days until it feels ready to shoot. NOTE: YOU CANNOT GO OUT TO FILM until the Treatment (written idea) and Script (shots and dialogue) - both required - are completed. Stick together; be respectful and get along.
